Saudi Arabia and Other Gulf Countries Plan to Revise Contaminants Limits Regulation: New Limits for Infant Foods, Sugars, Meat and Eggs
On 29 July 2025, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen notified the WTO through documents G/SPS/N/ARE/299, G/SPS/N/BHR/253, G/SPS/N/KWT/180, G/SPS/N/OMN/148, G/SPS/N/QAT/152, G/SPS/N/SAU/570, and G/SPS/N/YEM/93. The notification concerns the issuance of the final draft GSO 05 FDS 193:2024 of the Gulf Technical Regulation “Contaminants and Toxins in Food”, available in both English and Arabic. The document clearly states that this revision draws on the international standard CXS 193-1995 “General Standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food and Feed,” aiming to align with international standards.
